The Pinnacle of Fine Dining atop Mt. Washington overlooking Pittsburgh’s Skyline

Our Story

History

Restaurateur James Blandi Sr. opened LeMont in 1960. The restaurant featured two rooms and 130 seats. It was built for $1.2 million on the site of Grandview Theatre. The popularity of the restaurant soared and Mr. Blandi had to build an addition for 32 more tables. In 1970, a two story 40’ x 80’ banquet and dining room were added. In 1980, additional dining and renovations were completed. Mr. Blandi also invented two famous Pittsburgh dishes: the Turkey Devonshire Sandwich and the Pecan Ball ice cream.

On June 1, 1999, the late Edward B. & Anna Dunlap of Upper St. Clair, PA purchased the restaurant. The Dunlap’s spent $3 million on a renovation of the restaurant and, in 2005, added an addition to enlarge the bar and dining areas.

The Dunlap Family owns the restaurant after the deaths of Edward B. and Anna Dunlap in 2022 and 2023, respectively.

The LeMont Difference

LeMont estimates that it has served over six (6) million meals, hosted over 40,000 private parties and celebrated over 7,500 wedding receptions.

What LeMont offers that is truly unique is the old tradition of tableside dining. Customers rave about the Caesar salads made tableside by LeMont Captains or Servers. There is nothing better than Steak Diane, Chateaubriand for Two or pasta made at your tableside to make an evening special. Top off your evening with delicious Homemade desserts along with an after dinner drink or specialty coffee.

LeMont is a very special place. The food, the service, the view… it’s a great night out on the town. We try to make every night feel like a Saturday night at LeMont.
